Alice Merton

Rock singer whose hit song "No Roots" went number one in France and joined UK's BBC Radio 2's playlist. She earned a bachelor's degree in composition and songwriting from Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.  She won the annual award for promotion of talented newcomers in the category Acoustic Pop in Hamburg in 2016.  She was born to a German mother and an Irish father in Frankfurt, Germany. She has also lived in Canada and the U.S. She and Jennifer Weist are both rock singers from Germany.
